What is the duration of the internship?
The internship will begin in the Spring 2025 semester or Summer 2025 and has the potential to continue into the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters.
What are the pay rates for the internship?
The pay rate for the internship is between $18 to $20 per hour, effective from January 2, 2025, based on the current class year of the intern.
What are the working hours for the internship during the semester?
Interns can work up to 18.5 hours per week during the semester.
Are interns required to be located in New York State?
Yes, interns must be located in New York State or an immediately adjacent state while working.
What kind of skills will interns gain during the internship?
Interns will gain skills in using specialized AI software, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, and Tableau while learning about NYSERDA's program offerings.
What are some primary responsibilities of the intern?
Interns will assist with the implementation of NYSERDA's Artificial Intelligence strategy, assess risks associated with AI technologies, analyze systems for development projects, and assist with AI-related presentations, among other tasks.
What qualifications are required to apply for the internship?
Candidates must be current undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate students pursuing a degree in artificial intelligence, computer science, data science, policy, or a related field, and possess excellent skills with Microsoft Office and experience with AI software.
Is the internship paid?
Yes, this is a paid internship.
How should applications be submitted?
Applications should be submitted through the NYSERDA Careers page online as two files: one for your cover letter and another for your resume. Applications submitted only through your school’s recruiting portal will not be considered.
Will AI scoring be used in the recruitment process?
No, while you may be prompted to opt-in to AI scoring during the application process, this feature is not used by NYSERDA in its recruiting and hiring process. Your response will not impact your application.
