Ashgate Hospice is a charity (no. 700636) that provides compassionate, specialist palliative and end of life care, free of charge, to patients with a life-limiting illness and their families across North Derbyshire.

For patients with the most complex needs, we have an Inpatient Unit. However, most of our patients are cared for at home by our team of specialist nurses, specialist therapists and healthcare professionals. This enables them to stay where they feel most comfortable for as long as possible.

We are not an NHS hospice. Less than 30% of our total income comes from local NHS health budgets.

The post holder will be accountable for the effective management of staff, volunteers, income, customer experience, stock and administration duties, building a culture within the team which aligns with the Ashgate Hospice values and supports a “One Ashgate” approach by providing a strong link between the shop and other departments within the wider Hospice.
The main responsibilities include:
Achieve and where possible, exceed, shop income and expenditure targets on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis. Identify and proactively address areas of shortfall.
Use management knowledge and reports available to ensure the shop stock is displayed proportionately, price ranges are in-line with the pricing structure
Support the Shop Manager and undertake regular 121’s with staff that you have responsibility for. Coach the team on effective sales, customer experience, security and stock management best practices

 Our retail outlets provide much-needed income to the hospice. This is vital to be able to provide care to the people of North Derbyshire. The hospice has 15 retail shops, a furniture warehouse, a donation centre, two clearance shops, and two coffee shops! We also have two online eBay platforms, for clothes and general goods and an online furniture store. It’s a big operation!
 We’re seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Relief Shop Manager to join our team. You'll will lead and be responsible for one of our retail shops in the absence of the shop manager ensuring that the teams provide a great customer experience. In addition, you will also support the retail operations team as and when required. Your role is key in helping us achieve our fundraising goals, so we can continue to provide the care our patients deserve.
  The main responsibilities include:
 
  Provide management cover for vacancies, planned and unplanned absence of the shop manager or additional support within any of the Ashgate Hospice shops or retail locations, as required.
  Support Area Retail Operations ·
  Action daily floor walks/handovers from the shop/location manager to ensure high standards are achieved and maintained in their absence.

  You will be an integral member of the retail team, supporting retail teams in the absence of the shop manager in numerous locations

  Good organisation skills
  Ability to plan and priotise workloads
