What is the pay range for this internship position?
The pay range for the Government Funded Student Intern position is $17.75 per hour, in compliance with federal contractor minimum wage requirements.
Who is eligible to apply for this internship?
This internship is only for pre-selected Office of Science (SC) WDTS Students who have previously applied to the Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) Program and been selected by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) Lab Education Director (LED).
How long is the internship program?
The internship program lasts between 10 to 16 weeks, depending on the term.
What will be expected of me during the internship?
As an intern, you will participate in research under close supervision, complete required surveys, make a presentation on your research, submit a research project report, and attend all scheduled events, spending approximately 40 hours a week on research or professional development opportunities.
Will I need a security clearance for this position?
No security clearance is required; however, if your assignment exceeds 179 cumulative days in a calendar year, you must go through the Personal Identity Verification process.
Are there any restrictions based on nationality for this position?
Yes, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) prohibits citizens of China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea (without dual US citizenship or legal permanent residency) from accessing specific non-public areas related to national security or nuclear weapons facilities.
