What is the role of a Respiratory Therapy Intern at University Hospital?
The Respiratory Therapy Intern assists in providing routine respiratory care and is responsible for administering therapies, cleaning equipment, performing patient education, and supporting the respiratory care team.
What kind of patient population will the intern work with?
The intern will have age-specific competence to work with pediatric (ages 13 months to 11 years), adolescent (ages 12 to 17), adult (ages 18 to 65), and geriatric (ages 66 and over) patients.
What qualifications are needed to apply for this role?
Applicants must have completed the equivalent of one year in an accredited respiratory therapy educational program with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and must remain enrolled in the program while maintaining that GPA.

The intern will administer aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, incentive spirometry, and bronchial hygiene; provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation; clean respiratory equipment; and educate patients and families.

This position is PRN (as needed), meaning the intern will work on an as-needed basis rather than a fixed schedule.
