Responsibilities

  • To assist the Director of People and Culture with the direction of all aspects of the People and Culture (Human Resources) division including benefits administration, employee relations, recruitment and retention of staff, communication to staff, career development of staff, wage & hour compliance, training, workers’ compensation and legal matters related to resort employees.
  • The Assistant Director of People and Culture will also be responsible for delivering workplace learning, performance improvement programs, and initiatives to best achieve long-term business success. While driving a culture of care for all employees through communication and employee relations.

  • Act as an objective 3rd party in employee counseling, problem solving or conflict situation and communicate to Director of People & Culture any circumstances that may raise legal issues for the hotel.
  • Identify, analyze and initiate appropriate actions to resolve any unsatisfactory pattern of employee turnover. Responsible for completion of all Stay and Exit Interviews.
  • Manage the financial issues for the People & Culture budget including benefits, labor & salary reports and plan cost effective events within the People & Culture budget guidelines.
  • Conduct regular audits of insurance records, I-9 records, vacation and sick allowances.
  • Administer and train employees on behalf of People & Culture including but not limited to discipline, benefits, core and culture standards.
  • Organize and supervise all employee recreation programs include holiday parties, children’s party, general meetings etc.
  • With support of the People & Culture Manager, is responsible for the full life cycle of the Employee Experience at the resort.
  • Respond to and attend any related hearings for all employee claims against the hotel including EEOC, NLRB, Workers’ Compensation, Unemployment and Wage & Hour.
  • Actively support the Safety/Lead with Care Committee.
  • Assist the Talent Acquisition Manager and Director of People & Culture with the Talent Acquisition function of the P&C Division for exempt - level roles. Screening, interviewing, facilitating the interview process. If needed, assist in line-level roles.
  • Responsible for property wide recognition and appreciation programs.
  • Engage as a vocal and visible leader and daily people-partner of the Resort.
  • In partnership with the P&C Manager, and the P&C Generalist, owns employee communications.
  • In partnership with the P&C Manager, is responsible for planning, organizing and executing employee relations functions such as direct line organization, leadership meetings, visual communications, employee parties, town-halls, etc.
  • The ability to attend and participate in management and employee functions as expected, representing People & Culture and the Resort accordingly both on and off hotel property.
  • Assists and oversees the P&C Manager with the benefits administration of the resort. Works with third-party payroll off-shoring team to ensure compliance and accuracy in all benefits billing.
  • Manage Workday inbox for accurate and timely resolution.
  • Actively participates in Embark on a routine basis.
  • Completes other tasks/projects as assigned by the Director of People & Culture.
  • Oversees two direct reports: People & Culture Manager, People & Culture Generalist.
