Responsibilities

  • Participates in implementing the national labor relations strategy aligned with corporate objectives, business priorities and company culture.
  • Works closely with the Director of Workforce Relations on employee engagement initiatives. May lead on site assessments independently and provide actionable insights for leaders.
  • Works with the Director of Labor Relations and HR leadership in preparing the key elements regarding the negotiating mandate for approval.
  • Provides support for the local collective agreements.
  • Builds strong credibility and open and regular relationships with various trade union bodies by promoting a better understanding of business issues, business priorities and mutual respect.
  • Able to understand and provide guidance on the various collective agreements and grasps the priority issues in order to make recommendations for the best possible solutions and improvements. Assists with the maintenance of the national summary of collective agreement conditions.
  • Assists the Director of Labor Relations, HRBPs and BU DCMs in the negotiation/regulation of grievances and major litigation cases.
  • Acts as a key resource in the labor relations field.
  • Assists with training and coaching of HR and business stakeholders on their respective CBAs and the interpretation of it, various issues related to labor relations such as effective conflict resolution, the use of disciplinary measures, etc.
  • Participates in arbitration hearings and with various outside agencies when necessary.
