Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in sustainability management within the fashion, textiles, or related industries. Experience in fabric innovation and/or circular business models is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Material Science, Environmental Engineering, Textile Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA with a focus on sustainability or innovation is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable materials, textile production processes, and circular economy principles.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects. Ability to inspire and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the research and development of sustainable fabrics, materials, and technologies that align with the brand’s premium quality and aesthetic.
  • Collaborate with material scientists, suppliers, and R&D teams to explore and test new materials, including bio-based, recycled, and biodegradable options.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and innovations in sustainable textiles, materials science, and fashion technology.
  • Evaluate the environmental impact of current and proposed materials, ensuring all fabrics meet the company’s sustainability criteria.
  • Design and implement circular economy strategies, including closed-loop systems, take-back programs, and product life extension initiatives.
  • Work closely with product development, design, and supply chain teams to integrate circular principles into product design, manufacturing, and end-of-life processes.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with recycling and up-cycling facilities to ensure effective material recovery and reuse.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of circular initiatives, continually optimizing processes for greater impact.

  • Engage with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and industry groups, to advocate for and collaborate on sustainable practices.
